Communication Barriers – Measures of Effective Messages
Once again you have to remember, you communicate because you "want" something. This want can be - selling, someone's companionship, relationship or anything. And your failing of communication means you don't get what you want.
To improve poor communication skill, first you have to learn what are the barriers and how to overcome those.
Using familiar, short and simple
sentences can really make a big difference regarding various forms of messages.
I must ensure if receiver knows the technical language, acronyms and Jargons
that I use in message. Better to avoid them. I should use short and simple
paragraphs, list multiple items and never use negative words. Word is
everything and very sensitive. Job focus and common sense are the keys for
successful communication. Simplify, do not summarize and do not cut content.
Just be precise.
Many
of managers are acting without thinking. The thing is – “Common Sense”. They
are not focused on job, rather on communication.
The biggest
barrier of any communication is EGO – Evil Going On. Why CEO needs a laptop
career! Let’s see what the benefits are if a person develops no ego –
a) Remove
stress,
b) Better
relationships,
c)
Self-improvement,
Ego creates biased mindset on people. The most ancient common
discrimination is Gender. So I must use he/she in spoken and should not use
he/him rather plural words. Other stereotyping mindsets are based on age,
religion, profession, disability, nationality, locality etc.
Do not divide, do not find
differences. Search for similarities. This will improve mutual respect and will
lead to better communication.
Never assume. By assuming we
consider others with ego. Communication without listening or understanding others
will keep me far from the mental condition of audiences. Demolishing ego and
discrimination is very easy, because – it is my choice.
