Introduction to Communication, Leadership & Mindset

The bare truth of capitalism – “Principle of Elimination”. Our system plans on how to eliminate candidates as much as possible. Only remaining ones get the opportunity to breathe at the end. To be one of them I have to prepare myself. To win this competition I need two things – FOCUS and ATTENTION.

Managerial communication and leadership is all about new mindset. Considering average growth as not ‘success’, 97% people of the world population is unfortunately losers. Only 3% people are on top, these are the ones who act as catalyst in others life. The purpose of leadership, the sole meaning of catalyst became very visible with the TEDx talk of the Shahidul Alam, one of the pioneers in Bangladesh who achieved immortality though his work. His photography is now in most of the world famous museums. Very few people achieved this in their living time. He asked, “Make your eyes beautiful.” Really amazing video, convincing to change your eyes and world will change.

Now I look to others in a new positive way. Anything can happen in life. Nothing is impossible. Yesterday can’t define tomorrow. I need to develop a mindset to learn from everything. Learning means permanent (relatively) changing of behavior. To be a good leader I have to a good servant first.

Now the question is, how to judge myself if I am actually a Leader? This emphasizes two core questions of leadership.
1) In whose life did I play the role of catalyst and
2) Whose life I helped to transform.

A leader communicates with others to share common umbrella of thoughts. 100 of year’s research taught us that interpersonal skills are the most important skill-set for managers.
We communicate because we want something. Basics of the communication are –
1) share ideas.
2) Having some level of mutuality.

If both parties have no mutual ground then it was only an attempt; not actual communication. When sharing ideas, we often face miscommunication. This happens due to misconception of meaning. Meaning is not same to everyone, depends on each ones perspective. It is multiple and is dynamic. That is why, it is very natural. Among the communication skills, the most important one is ‘Thinking’. We communicate because we want something. If we think in right way, listen and action nonverbal attitudes carefully – communication skill can be the greatest ladder to reach on the very top.
